AutoGraver II offers three popular marking methods, each utilizing a uniquely shaped tool to efficiently create a permanent, distinctive line or letter to satisfy your personal tastes. We invite you to review the summaries below, then to explore the helpful examples to the left.
Scribing — A scribing tool features a pointed, diamond tip at the end of a metal shaft that makes a V-shaped groove with a distinct center as it moves over the workpiece. The mirror-like surfaces on the edges of the groove reflect light brilliantly to create a dramatic effect.
Burnishing — This wide and faceted, rotating tool floats lightly over the surface so that the facets produce a shallow mark in the metal. Wider than scribed lines, burnished letters are broad, shiny and easy to read.
Engraving — As the swiftly-rotating engraving tool removes material from the surface, it leaves a flat-bottomed groove. The operator can select and control the groove‘s depth in a plastic workpiece by utilizing the nose cone depth-guide surrounding the cutter. Plastic engraving dust is easily trapped in the depth guide and vacuumed away before it can accumulate. Also suitable… without the nose cone… for marking metals and plastics, engraving permits the widest and deepest lettering.
